Behavior modeling involves observing and mapping the successful processes which underlie an exceptional performance of some type. It is the process of taking a complex event or series of events and breaking it into small enough chunks so that it can be recapitulated in some way. The goal of the behavior modeling process is to identify the essential elements of thought and action required to produce the desired response or outcome
Beliefs are convictions or acceptances that certain things are true or real. They are generalizations about the world (our experiences). It is assuming that something is true. They are filter for our perception. They are our on/off switches about whether we can do anything.
Values are what we move toward or away from. They are those things (or notions) that we are willing to expend resources for, or to obtain resources to have. Values are largely unconscious, and at the deepest level they drive a person’s true purpose as a human being. Values govern ALL human behavior.
Metaprograms are the frame of reference out of which we think-emote-speak and respond. They exist as a meta level to primary thinking. They refer to those programs in our mind that operate at a meta level to our content thinking and refer to the sorting devices or patterns that we use in perceiving, paying attention to information, and inputting and processing the stimuli around us. These programs function as the sorting and perceiving rules that govern how we think and emote.
Criteria utilization patterns are a system of distinctions which can be used, in either conversation, consultation, or debate to help people become more open to doubt limiting beliefs, and more open to believe empowering and useful beliefs.
The purpose of these patterns is not to attack the person or the belief, but rather to reframe the belief and widen the person’s map in different directions in such a way that the positive intention behind the belief can be maintained through other choices.
